BAER TEST 3
Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response (BAER Test)

This is a hearing test we offer at our clinic. BAER is currently being used to
eliminate or reduce the incidence of genetic expression of deafness from several breeds of dogs. Since deafness is a genetic defect, and since it appears essentially at 2-3 weeks of age, testing the pup anytime after five weeks of age has become an excellent way to identify the auditory status of individual dogs. This deafness trait has not been obdserved to develop gradually in dogs, and does seem to be an all or none situation for each ear.
                                   BAER TEST

When testing there would be one of three results:

1. Normal (no hearing problem)
2. Bilateral - deaf in both ears  ( i.e., totally deaf)
3. Unilateral - deaf in one ear ( often called "unis")

We offer a litter price for puppies or single test price for individual dogs.
We do not use any sedation for this test. Puppies need to be 5 weeks or older when doing a litter or single. Call us for more info or you can check out this link    BAER Testing   (Hearing Test)
