FLea and Tick Facts : 

A female flea can lay as many as 40 to 50 eggs per day. Within several weeks, that can add up to hundreds of eggs. That is why if you don't use a product in the first part of the year, come September you have a flea problem of millions of fleas in your environment.

 Depending on the species, a female tick can lay 100 - 8,000 eggs at a time. Some tick preventives repel and kill ticks before the ticks can attach to pets.

However, other products interfere with a tick's ability to feed and transmit dis-ease but may not prevent the parasite from attaching to a pet. This doesn't mean that the product isn't working.

Pets should be treated individually for fleas and ticks. Especially in households that have at least one dog and cat, it is also essential for the products to be used only on the recommendedspecies of animal. Giving a cat a tick preventive that is intended for dogs can be lethal.

You should use a flea and tick product year around. It does not get and stay cold enough in the winter to stop. We are finding ticks on dogs when they come in for a appointment in mid January.
